The Himalayan nettle allo is a fibre-yielding, self- sustaining perennial herb that can grow up to 1.5m high. Allo is widely distributed in the subtropical and temperate Himalayas and grows in mountain and hill areas across Nepal. After cutting, the dry bark is peeled off and fiber is extracted by boiling, washing and beating. Allo fibre has physical and mechanical properties that are better suited to textile work than other commonly used fibres and the longest fibre length of any natural fibre. Allo fiber has great features; that it is cool in summer and warm in winter, and it’s quite waterproof, durable and can be worn throughout the year.
